Shhh…It’s a Surprise!

Parents,
The WUMC Youth want to welcome your 5th grader(s) into our program. It is our goal for your child to feel a valued part of our youth group. We hope to encourage your almost teenager to express herself or himself within the group so we can learn from each other. The 5th Grade Kidnapping event is a special way we recognize your child’s important transition from being a child who is led to being a teenager who grows with other in his or her own unique life. We celebrate these new friendships and will support them throughout the teen years.
The current youth group students help throughout the entire event. They will be there from initial kidnap to final pickup and focused on your student feeling welcomed into the youth group. The event will consist of active times of swimming, Broomball, and outdoor silly/messy games as well as less active times of hanging out and talking, watching movies, playing board games or xbox. We will also have many opportunities for the 5th graders and older students to get to know each other and find out what youth group is all about, including ice breaker games, one on one conversations, and student testimonies.
Dinner is provided and there will be snacks available all night on campus. Please let us know if your student has specific food needs. Most students have so much fun and try to stay up the entire night. We offer them the option of sleeping, in two separate girls and boys rooms on campus. If your student does not want to stay over night, they can be picked up at anytime or can be dropped off at home at midnight.
We hope you will reserve this time for your child to participate in his or her first youth event. This is a special time dedicated to making them feel a part of this special group.
